When the lion king is your child’s bestsellers, it is no surprise that the books are selling out faster than the restaurant menus.
It’s no secret that Disney’s film version of the classic Disney classic has seen a surge in sales in recent years, with Disney having made an investment of $100 million to make the film the highest grossing Disney film ever.
Disney’s movie has also seen a huge boost in the number of bookings for the franchise, with the movie hitting over 2 million bookings in its first two weeks on the market, and with that in mind, the Disney Parks blog has published its latest review of the film, highlighting the many reasons why Disney’s new version of The Lion King has surpassed the original.
According to the blog, The Lion Kingdom: The Movie is a “Disney film that’s been so successful because it’s so different from the original” and that this is the result of the Disney company taking the opportunity to adapt the classic and bringing it into the 21st century.
“As children, it was so important for us to show them that the lion is real,” says author Kristin Davis.
“We wanted to show the world that a lion is a real animal, but we also wanted to give them an authentic experience that was different.”
The blog also noted that the movie is “so different from anything else Disney has done in this franchise,” as well as being the first film in the franchise to be based on a story from a new source, not a prequel story.
“Disney has been so supportive of the kids in the Lion Kingdom, especially the younger ones, because the older kids have always been the most loyal fans,” says Davis.”[It] just speaks to the incredible power of Disney and the fact that they know what’s best for the kids.”
The Lion King: The Story of The Jungle Book is available on iTunes, Amazon Kindle and Google Play.
