A bunch of gamers are taking aim at the next generation of video games with an all-out assault on the very idea of creativity.
In an interview with Wired, the developer behind one of the most popular mobile games in the world, Hyperion, explained that they are “making a game where you’re not even supposed to be a genius, but rather a sociopath.”
“You can’t have the ability to think, you can’t write, you cant be a mathematician, you cannot be a scientist, you’re a murderer,” Hyperion’s creator, Terence Crawford, said in the interview.
It’s not a game you can play alone.””
The goal is to make it a game that can be played with friends and be social.
It’s not a game you can play alone.”
A number of social games that attempt to recreate that concept, like Fruit Ninja and The Secret Room, are currently in development.
They do, however, have a fair share of flaws, including a lack of social interaction and a lack, in Crawford’s words, of a “real world”.
has addressed some of those problems, with the team now working on a “social” game that “simply asks you to solve puzzles and help out your friends.”
In this particular game, you play as a sociopathy, and have to use your skills to help the other players in the game.
You will be asked to “hack” and “kill” people in order to keep your friends alive.
“We wanted to make a game with the idea of, you know, not having to be smart, but you need to be in a place where you can make decisions,” Crawford said.
“In order to do that, you have to be willing to make mistakes.”
Hyperion is a “tough, tough game,” and Crawford told Wired that they wanted to give people an option to “choose” to “kill someone” or “not kill someone”.
But, he said, “I don’t think you can kill people without killing people.
It doesn’t have to happen in the real world.
You have to make your own reality.”
Hyperions creator, and the creator of the game he’s talking about, Tye Sheridan, told Wired, “Hyperion does not feel like a game.
It feels like a social experiment.
It felt like we had to go to this level of the human experience, where we could go beyond what’s been done before.”
Hyperionic is set to release on February 15th for Android and iOS devices.
